The best municipal biogas plant on an international level produces struvite
Landfill and Waste
The Reest & Wieden biogas plant in The Netherlands was awarded the ADBA prize for best international municipal plant. Here sludge from various WWT plants is collected and then undergoes both mesophilic and thermophilic anaerobic treatment, aimed at extracting more biogas and obtaining – by means of a reactor – struvite, which can be used as a fertiliser.
